The Reverend Katie Hargis is a native of Oklahoma where she was educated at Cache High School. Upon graduating with her high school diploma in 2005, she attended and graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Relations. She then worked as a Youth Director at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken, SC and as the Christian Education Director/Parish Administrator at Christ Cathedral in Salina, KS. She entered seminary at The School of Theology at The University of the South (affectionately known as Sewanee) where she is graduated with her Masters of Divinity in May 2015. Katie also successfully completed a summer of being a hospital chaplain with The University of Oklahoma Medical Center for Pastoral Studies in the summer of 2013.
Katie began her life as a Methodist, but her family was drawn to the liturgy and welcome of the Episcopal Church. After college and working as a youth director for a couple of years, Katie discerned a call for Holy Orders and was duly ordained as a transitional deacon on November 1, 2014 and as a priest on August 15, 2015 by the Rt. Rev. Michael Milliken, Bishop of Western Kansas.
Katie is currently the Rector of St. Cornelius Episcopal Church in Dodge City, KS. She got the heck into Dodge with her dog, a border terrier named Abi, and her parrot, Mack. You can follow her on Twitter here.
